Reincarnation, Believing in second chances
Mood:  bright
Topic: Spiritualism

More than a thousand people gathered at a New York City conference center on a recent Sunday coming from around the world, in hopes of an out-of-this-world experience.

At up to $139 a ticket, they seemed confident that through hypnosis they'd uncover lost memories ... not just of this life, but of past lives as well.

"Be there, back there, before your birth ..."

Call them "Come as you were" events - reincarnation conventions, no longer considered completely off-the-wall, and growing in popularity.

"You can remember everything ..."

One woman said she had an experience on the Titanic. Another subject "regressed back to, I want to say, the mid-1800s, in England."

Another woman said, "I recognized that I was about to see Jesus deliver his Sermon on the Mount."

For Dr. Brian Weiss, a firm believer in reincarnation, such stories are all in a day's work ... hardly what you'd expect from a graduate of Yale's prestigious medical school.

Ever wondered why Mars is red? It could happen to Earth

At least that is the theory proposed by a scientist who has discovered a reason as to how the red planet got its rosy colour.

According to Dr John Brandednberg, about 180 million years ago, a planet-shattering yet naturally occurring nuclear reaction may have wiped out everything on Mars, sending a shockwave that turned the planet into dry sand.

He told Fox News: 'The Martian surface is covered with a thin layer of radioactive substances including uranium, thorium and radioactive potassium - and this pattern radiates from a hot spot on Mars.

'A nuclear explosion could have sent debris all around the planet.

Ahmadinejad allies charged with sorcery
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Paranormal

Close allies of Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have been accused of using supernatural powers to further his policies amid an increasingly bitter power struggle between him and the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Several people said to be close to the president and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, have been arrested in recent days and charged with being "magicians" and invoking djinns (spirits).

Ayandeh, an Iranian news website, described one of the arrested men, Abbas Ghaffari, as "a man with special skills in metaphysics and connections with the unknown worlds".

Revealed, What really happened to the Titanic!
Mood:  loud
Topic: Conspiracy / Corruption

SECRETS of the Titanic disaster have been uncovered in a new book – which also reveals the truth about its Midland captain.

Researcher Tim Maltin spent two years scouring historical records, eyewitness accounts and transcripts of official investigations into the sinking of the ill-fated liner.

The Titanic was on her maiden voyage to New York when it hit an iceberg at 11.40pm on April 14, 1912, and sank at 2.20am the following morning – dooming 1,517 people to a watery grave.

Memory cells to fight cancer
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Cancer

Imagine a day when doctors are able to train a patient's blood cells to fight cancer.

They take some blood, extract the white blood cells, then coax them in the laboratory to memorise the cells that cause cancer.

When injected back into the body, the memory T-cells go on to hunt and destroy tumour cells for more than a year.

For a handful of patients around the world - such a treatment has already become a reality. The hope is that in five to ten years' time, this highly experimental therapy could make the leap to approved drug.

Boys Suspended For Farting On School Bus
Mood:  cheeky
Topic: Need a Laugh

An Ohio seventh-grader was suspended last week for doing arguably the most predictable thing a 13-year-old boy could do for a laugh on the school bus. He cut the cheese.

Canal Winchester Middle School students Anthony Nichols and another boy lost their bus privileges on Friday for their stinky stunt, which prompted the customary rousing laughter and "lowering of windows," according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Administrators ruled that the flatulence was in violation of the school's code of conduct, but if you ask Nichols' parents, the decision reeks of poor judgement.

Catholic Church devote a Mass to Osama Bin Laden
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Religion

CHURCHGOING RESIDENTS of Howth, Co Dublin, were bewildered to see Osama bin Laden listed for two memorial services in their parish newsletter yesterday morning.

The Catholic Church in the seaside town had named the terrorist – shot dead by US navy seals in a heavily-fortified compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, last Sunday – among those to whom it planned to devote a Mass.

In addition to carrying information about upcoming communions and confirmations, the Church of the Assumption newsletter also contained a brief announcement which read: “Osama Bin Laden (recently deceased)”, adding that the man who had topped America’s most wanted list for more than a decade was scheduled to have two Masses said in his honour next Thursday at 8am and 10am.
