Peterborough Cathedral was founded as a monastic church by King Peada in 655 AD, destroyed
by the Danes in 870, rebuilt as part of a Benedictine Abbey and re-consecrated in 972, burned down in an accidental fire in
1116 and re-built in its present form between 1118 and 1238.
Not the usual kind of place to receive a visit from Dark Destiny but the draw of the gothic architecture
was just too much. Armed with the appropriate permit and 512 mega bites of memory the sparks certainly flew as the sound of
thunder echoed within the vaulted ceiling.
Outside was a small but interesting selection of headstones and chest tombs, but nestling in
a dark corner near the eastern end of the Cathedral was a small cluster (bottom three pictures) of
Saxon stone coffins, some where open while others appeared intact and ready to fend off whatever the next century or
two can throw at them.
